Church Pew Cushions

Built for solid pews that are staying, not being reupholstered yet. We measure your pews, make the cushions to fit, and deliver every order ourselves — we do not ship a box and wish you luck.

Church Pew Cushions

Is this the right fit?

Who church pew cushions are for

Cushions make sense when the wood is good and the seats are just hard. A lot of the churches that call us have solid oak pews built to last generations. Nobody wants to tear those out, but an hour on bare wood is a long hour.

  • Solid wood pews with no padding, where comfort is the main complaint
  • Churches that want comfort now and may reupholster later
  • Sanctuaries where removable seats help with cleaning
  • Committees comparing cushions against metal-frame chairs — in most cases cushions keep the look and cost far less of a change

If your pews already have upholstery that is rolling, torn, or the foam is shot, a cushion just hides the problem. That is a recover job, and it belongs on our church pew upholstery page.

What’s included

What’s included with our pew cushions

  • Custom-fit to your pew bodies — every pew measured, because pews in the same room often vary
  • Durable olefin fabric, with a free fabric line for the committee
  • 2.0 lb high-density or 2.8 lb HR foam
  • Loose, reversible cushions with a rolled or boxed front
  • Hand-delivered and installed by our crew, nationwide
  • Typical 3–4 month turnaround

Process

How a pew cushion order works

  1. Talk it through

Call or send the quote form. We ask about the pews you have, whether there are cushions on them now, and whether those are loose or attached.

  2. Measure

Anyone at the church can do it. Measure each seat from the inside of one pew end to the other, then the seat depth from back to front edge. Write down every pew — they are not always the same.

  3. Pick the fabric

We send the fabric line so the committee can see and feel it in the room, not on a screen.

  4. Build and deliver

Cushions are made to your measurements. Typical turnaround is 3–4 months, and we bring them ourselves and fit them on your pews.

Before you call

Planning checklist for church pew cushions

  • Measure before the committee votes. Cushion length follows the clear seating space. Measure a few pews yourself so the quote matches the room.

  • Choose a rolled or boxed front. Both are olefin, loose and reversible. Pick the front that fits your pew style.

  • Know when cushions are not enough. Torn fabric or shot foam needs reupholstery. A cushion only covers the problem.

  • We hand-deliver. There is no construction week. Keep the old pads until the new ones are set so Sunday seating stays complete.

  • Note odd lengths. Short pews at the front, or pews against a wall or column, are common. We cut to fit.

  • Check fabric in the sanctuary. Look at samples against carpet, walls and wood in daylight, then again under evening light if you can.

Church pew pads

Church pew pads are seat pads (loose, loose and reversible, or Sure Fit) that make a hard wooden seat comfortable without changing the pew. They are a good fit when the wood is sound. If the foam is worn out or the backs need padding, on-site church pew upholstery by our own crews is usually the better long-term value.

OptionPublished range (per linear foot)
Pew cushions / pads$14–$25
Seat-only pew padding$16–$26
Seat and back pew padding$18–$30
Full on-site pew reupholstering$25–$60

FAQ

Pew cushion questions committees ask

Tap a question to read the answer.

What they cost

Church pew cushions typically run $14–$25 per linear foot. Pricing depends on length, foam and style.

Cushions vs. full upholstery

If the foam in the pews is shot, full upholstery with the factory press is the longer-lived Masterpiece path.

How do we measure our pews for cushions?

Measure each pew seat from the inside of one pew end to the other, then measure the seat depth from the back of the seat to the front edge. Write down every pew separately, since pews in the same room often vary a little. Call us with the numbers or use the quote form.

Do you ship cushions or install them?

We hand-deliver every order and fit the cushions ourselves, anywhere in the 48 contiguous states.

How long does a cushion order take?

Typical turnaround is 3–4 months from order to delivery.

Are cushions better than switching to chairs?

For most sanctuaries, yes. Cushions keep the pews and the look of the room, add comfort for everybody, and avoid a full change of seating. Chairs make more sense in flat, multipurpose rooms.

Rolled front or boxed front?

Both are loose and reversible. Rolled has a rounded front edge; boxed has crisp corners. We send samples so the committee can feel the difference.

What if our pews already have worn upholstery?

A cushion will not fix torn fabric or failed foam. Recover the pew first, then add cushions only if you still want a removable pad.

How do we care for olefin cushions?

Vacuum regularly and blot spills promptly. Olefin resists stains and UV, which is why it holds up in sanctuaries with big windows.

How do we measure for cushions?

Measure each pew end to end, or measure one and count how many match. Note short pews and any that sit against a wall or column.

Who sets the cushions when they arrive?

We hand-deliver them. Ask who on your end will place them on the pews. Store the old pads somewhere dry if you want a spare set for overflow seating.
