Pew upholstery · Why us

Why churches hire Sharpe’s — and why the work lasts.

Three facts. The on-site factory press. Four-way stretch fabric. Carpet and upholstery crews that are ours, not subcontracted.

A working shop in Dunn, North Carolina

Sharpe’s Church Interiors is a working shop. We reupholster pews, make cushions, refinish wood, lay carpet, paint sanctuaries and help committees plan the whole room. We have done it for churches across the 48 contiguous states, and the same people who answer the phone in Dunn are the people who stand behind the work.

Churches usually call us for one of three reasons. The pews are worn and the congregation has noticed. A building committee has a renovation coming and wants one company to handle more than one trade. Or someone saw our work in another sanctuary and asked who did it. Whatever brings you here, the reasons to hire us are the same.

01 · On-site factory press

We went to the factory. Then we built the press.

A new pew is finished under a press, not stapled in an aisle. We went to the factory, learned that machine, scaled it down, and built one of our own. We bring it to your church. It works on just about every pew. The wood never leaves the building. You keep Sunday.

The press is the difference you can feel. Foam and fabric are compressed together and held while they are fastened, so the seat is tight and even from one end of the pew to the other. Stapling by hand in an aisle cannot do that. It also means your pews never ride on a truck, never sit in a warehouse, and never come back with someone else’s scratches.

02 · Four-way stretch

Stretch in every direction. Then lock it with the press.

Two-way stretch gives along the length and fights you at every corner. Four-way stretch wraps the bullnose, the end panel, and the seat crown without a wrinkle.

That matters most where people sit and stand every week. The front edge of the seat takes the most wear. With four-way stretch it is wrapped smooth instead of pleated, so there is no fold to catch and fray. We send fabric samples with every quote so the committee can feel it before it votes.

03 · In-house crews

Only our carpet crew. Only our upholstery crew. We do not subcontract.

When a church hires us, our employees do the work. The upholstery crew and the carpet crew answer to one superintendent. The paint crew is ours too. That is why we can schedule pews, floor and walls back to back, and why there is one warranty instead of three.

It also means accountability is simple. If a seam is not right, you call Dunn, and Bryan’s crew comes back. Pew upholstery carries a lifetime workmanship warranty. Flooring workmanship is covered for 25 years.

How a project runs

  • It starts with a conversation. Tell us about the pews, the floor and anything else on the list. We send samples and a written quote, and Masterpiece can include renderings of your own room.

  • Once colors are chosen, materials take 12 to 16 weeks. On-site pew work is usually 3 days to 2 weeks. Flooring and painting by our own crews follow on the same plan.

  • When the work is done, we leave the room ready for worship. No crates in the fellowship hall, and no missed Sunday.

What committees tell us mattered

  • Keeping Sunday. The press comes to you and our crews work between services, so the congregation is never in a construction zone on Sunday.

  • One company. Pews, carpet and paint under one schedule, one contract and one person to call.

  • Seeing it first. A rendering of your own sanctuary settles color debates faster than any swatch.

Read the frequently asked questions, look over our services, or start with pew upholstery.

Then choose the room, not just the pews

The press and the stretch are in every package. Masterpiece finishes the sanctuary around them.
