Last week, our team completed a pew upholstery project in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. This was a straightforward, cut-and-dry job focused on restoring function and appearance without changing the overall look of the sanctuary.
The existing upholstery had become stretched and was rolling along the edges — a very common issue we see with older pew upholstery in churches across South Carolina. While the pew frames were still in good condition, the fabric had simply worn past its usable life.

Over time, upholstered pews often develop problems such as:
Stretched or loose fabric
Rolling or curling edges
Uneven or worn seating surfaces
Once these issues start, replacement upholstery is the best long-term solution.
For this project, we removed the worn fabric and reupholstered and refurbished the pews using a similar fabric, allowing the church to maintain a familiar look while improving durability and comfort.
This type of project is a great example of how pew upholstery in South Carolina doesn’t always require a design change — sometimes it’s about restoring what’s already there.
