Agape Church in Indianapolis needed their pews brought back — not replaced. The wood was still good; the fabric and finishes weren’t. Sharpe’s Church Interiors handled custom upholstery, wood refinishing, and pew-end paint on-site.
What they asked for
Leadership wanted the sanctuary to feel refreshed without losing the room’s familiar look. We planned three pieces of work: new fabric, white ends, and cleaned-up exposed wood.
Custom upholstery and refinishing
We upholstered the pews in Sherpa Purple — a color they chose to suit the space — and used our Factory Press so the fabric stretches evenly and stays tight. Pew ends got a fresh white coat. Exposed wood was sanded and refinished so the grain showed again without looking fake-new.
Ten days on-site
The whole job finished on-site in about 10 days. No hauling pews across town, less downtime for the church, and we could check fit as we went. That’s usually how we prefer to work when the sanctuary schedule allows it.
Result
Agape walked back into purple pews with clean white ends and wood that looked tended again. Same pews, better surface — which is what most of our custom jobs are really about.
